LAS VEGAS SUN- I want to thank the management and staff at the Sahara West Library for displaying the Monuments exhibit for the past few months. The sculpture, art and photographs showcase the magnificence of Basin & Range, Tule Springs Fossil Beds, and Gold Butte national monuments. And what a diverse collection of artists. Native American, locally prominent artists, UNLV students and winners of a juried competition all participated.
I felt proud to see the natural beauty of our state’s wild places highlighted in such a breathtaking way. It was awesome to see our monuments through artists’ eyes, and protection of these special places will ensure inspiration for generations of artists to come. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the June anniversary of the Antiquities Act than to bring some of the people and places together for all to see.
